Advanced studies for maritime transport and marine environment

Innovative techniques will be developed for the simulation and experimental tests of flows of particular interest in marine and maritime activities, for which the current methods of investigation are not satisfactory. Main subjects of the study are: flows with free surface, multiphase flows, phase transition due to significant reductions in pressure (cavitation), evolution of vortical structures. Important for applications in the marine and shipping is also the development of advanced methodologies for the study of fluid-structure interaction, complex dynamical systems, as well as models for the generation of noise and its propagation  through the sea and within the vessel.
