STREAMLINE (Strategic Research for innovative Marine Propulsion Concepts)

Study of marine propulsion systems, newly developed high-performance and energy efficiency through the development of advanced hydrodynamic modeling. The project is divided into sub-addressing, respectively, the study of innovative engines, optimization of conventional engines, analysis of operational issues arising from use of these engines and finally the development of advanced hydrodynamic modeling. The study covers various types of vessels for commercial shipping. The INSEAN, coordinator of one of the sub above, is involved in the development and application of hydrodynamic models based on the coupling of BEM and RANS codes for analyzing multi-component hydrodynamic propulsion and interaction engine / hull, including aspects of hydroacoustic modeling and shape optimization. Part of the activities regarding the execution of tests for design validation of new engines made by computational models.
